Privacy policy

Privacy,
plainly stated

The Malt Register handles only what is necessary and aims to explain the technologies and outside services it uses in clear language.

Information you provide

The site currently has no account, comment or ordering feature and does not ask visitors to submit a name or contact details. Answers and results from the whisky matching test are not sent to the server or stored against an account.

The “Request a whisky” form on the register accepts only the whisky name entered by the visitor. It is routed through FormSubmit to the site’s operating email address. FormSubmit may process the submitted value and ordinary technical information for delivery and spam prevention; its documentation states that submissions may be retained for up to 30 days.

Information processed automatically

The hosting system may temporarily process ordinary access records—such as request time, requested address, IP address and browser or device information—for security, fault diagnosis and delivery of the service. These records are not used by the site to identify visitors personally.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

Answers from the whisky matching test are not stored in cookies or browser storage. The site uses Google Analytics to understand usage and improve its content. This may process information such as pages visited, visit time, approximate location, device and browser details, and referral source.

If an advertising service such as Google AdSense is introduced, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses or similar identifiers to deliver and measure advertising, limit repetition and prevent misuse. Where applicable law requires consent, an appropriate consent or choice interface will be provided.

External services and links

Pages may connect to Google Analytics for audience measurement, Google Fonts and the Pretendard CDN to provide typefaces, and FormSubmit to deliver whisky requests. Using a share button opens the sharing features of the browser or operating system; the privacy terms of the outside service selected by the visitor then apply. External sites manage their own data practices.

Retention, changes and contact

A requested whisky name may remain in the operating inbox while it is considered as a content candidate and can be deleted when it is no longer needed. This policy will be updated when the service configuration or its information-processing practices change.
