About this register

A way to
read whisky

The Malt Register is an independent whisky guide connecting the name on a bottle, the way the spirit is made and the flavour that reaches the glass.

Why CSS instead of images

Rather than lining up bottle photography, the site draws stills, casks and blending processes with simple lines and movement. The aim is to reveal the principle before adding decoration. Each diagram is built in HTML and CSS, not supplied as an image.

How the pages are written

The writing draws on official material from brands and distilleries, production rules and reliable references. It aims to remain technically responsible while giving a first-time reader a clear path through the subject.

The flavour wheels are not chemical analyses or absolute scores. They are editorial guides that place the sensory impression of a representative bottle on the same six axes for comparison.

Independence and responsibility

This is not an official site operated or sponsored by any distillery or drinks company featured here. Product names and trademarks belong to their respective owners. Any sponsorship, advertising or affiliate relationship that influences a page will be disclosed clearly.

The material is intended for adults of legal drinking age. It does not encourage purchasing or excessive drinking, and it respects the choice not to drink.
